From the early fascination with the buttons and lights in the cockpit of a Boeing 727 to flying the skies on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Andre's story in aviation is nothing short of a dream come true.
Andre Quiros, Boeing 787 captain and pilot and RadarBox user
In this blog post, we delve into his passion for flying, the role of flight-tracking apps like RadarBox in his daily life, and the challenges and rewards of working in the dynamic world of aviation.
A Lifelong Passion for Aviation
Andre's love affair with aviation started at the tender age of 11 when he first stepped into the cockpit of a Boeing 727, thanks to an uncle who worked as a Flight Engineer. This pivotal moment ignited a passion that led him to pursue a career as a pilot. After completing his college education, Andre began flight training in the United States in 2001, eventually becoming a Flight Instructor.

His journey continued, encompassing experiences with Cessna Caravan, Embraer 190, and the iconic Boeing 747 with Eva Air in Taiwan. Today, he pilots the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The Role of Technology in Aviation
In the ever-evolving landscape of aviation, technology plays a crucial role. RadarBox, a flight-tracking app, has become an indispensable tool for professionals like Andre. Before each flight, he utilizes the app to check airport conditions, monitor his aircraft's location, assess weather patterns, and anticipate potential delays. The app offers a comprehensive journey overview post-flight, aiding in performance analysis and route optimization.
Beyond professional use, Andre finds RadarBox handy during his leisure time, enhancing his passion for airplane spotting – a hobby that allows him to identify flights overhead.
The Rewards and Challenges of Aviation
"I am working in aviation, which demands passion and dedication. Whether you're a pilot, cabin crew member, ground staff, or air traffic controller, the job is both demanding and rewarding." - He says. Andre's motivation stems from the sheer joy of flying and the opportunity to explore new places, cuisines, and cultures. However, the profession comes with sacrifices, including time away from family, irregular schedules, and the physical toll of a high-stress environment.
Words of Wisdom and Inspiration
In the world of aviation, wisdom is often distilled into memorable quotes. Andre shares two favorites: "Three useless things for a pilot: runway behind you, altitude above you, and fuel on the ground" and "Never let an airplane take you somewhere that your brain didn't get to five minutes earlier."

For aspiring aviators, Andre recommends embracing the journey, cultivating good habits, and enjoying every step of the career progression. Resilience, he notes, is a crucial attribute for navigating the cyclical nature of the aviation industry.
